DEER VELVET FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH

For over a thousand of years, deer velvet has been prescribed for women in north Asia to combat the root causes of hormonal related health issues such as menstrual problems, infertility and symptoms of menopause. Modern science is revealing the reasons why deer velvet has such amazing properties.

MENSTRUAL PROBLEMS AND INFERTILITY

Menstrual disorders are generally divided into 4 categories - abnormal uterine bleeding, dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain), premenstrual syndrome (cramps, fatigue, backaches, headaches, constipation & mood swing) and premenstrual dysphonic disorder (fatigue and severe pains and and emotional effects).

Western medicine’s treatment for these issues often includes birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy (HRT). These chemical based treatments can caused undesirable side effects. Thrombosis and uterine cancer are both linked to HRT.

It has been estimated that about 40% infertility are due to the woman. Infertility in women can be caused by a mix of factors. Stress & fatigue are inevitable in today’s hectic lifestyle and detrimental to fertility. As stress and cortisol levels increase, the fertility level of women drop.

Deer velvet is a safe and natural supplement to boost the health of women’s reproductive system due to its unique chemical composition and rich content of amino acids & essential trace elements.
  • estrogen : Deer velvet stimulates estrogen reactive hormones, such as estradiol. Estrogen, a natural female sex hormone, is a critical component of the reproductive cycle. Estrogen helps regulate menstruation and promote development of secondary sexual characteristics.
  • amino acids : Deer velvet is a rich resource of over 30 types of amino acids, including 15 types that can address chronic fatigue & stress. For instance, aspartic acid is involved in the neuroendocrine system & the production of the luteinizing hormone required for regulation of the menstrual cycle and ovulation in females.
  • zinc : Deer velvet contains Zinc which is an integral part of many enzyme systems, including DNA polymerase complex. Therefore it is critical for successful human reproduction. Zinc also plays a role in regulating female reproductive hormones. A zinc deficiency can result in hormonal imbalances and impaired cell division. Since zinc is necessary for protein metabolism, a zinc deficiency may disrupt egg maturation. Also female suboptimal follicle fluid levels rely on Zinc to transport the egg through the fallopian tubes.
  • copper : Copper in deer velvet supports healthy hormone levels and metabolism to assist with female fertility. Research has shown that low copper concentrations in blood plasma can affect female fertility.

MENOPAUSE

Women going through menopause suffer unpleasant physical and emotional symptoms as a result of the major decrease in female hormonal production by the ovaries. Such symptoms include heart palpitations, vaginal dryness, hot flushes, dizziness and sweating. Some other common physical responses to lower hormone production include listlessness, headaches, weight gain, nervousness and insomnia.

Deer antler velvet is nature’s answer to balancing female hormones during menopause.
  • arginine : “Hot flushes” is related to endothelial dysfunction - poor circulation due to problems with vascular distance regulation. Scientists recognise that these symptoms have important consequences for cardiovascular functionality. The absence of sufficient dissolved nitric oxide is the cause of endothelial dysfunction.
Arginine is needed for the conversion into nitric oxide and vital for maintaining adequate concentrations of this important neutransmitter. A good supply of arginine will support blood vessel elasticity and reduce the frequency of hot flushes.
  • lysine : This essential amino acid can reduce the body’s absorption of arginine into cells. A higher level of lysine can assist in increasing arginine concentrations within the blood plasma, allowing faster conversion into nitric oxide. Lysine is a key building block for a variety of important proteins that are vital during menopause. They include enzymes, hormones, antibodies, blood plasma transport proteins, and structural proteins within the muscles, bone, tendons and skin. Lysine is important to women who are at risk of developing osteoporosis.
  • magnesium : All your organs need magnesium to function properly. Magnesium is also crucial for bone and teeth formation, enzyme activation, energy production and mood regulation. Magnesium levels tend to wane during menopause. Replenishing magnesium can help ease menopausal symptoms.

Deer velvet is not recommended for women with hormone-sensitive conditions such as breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, endometriosis or uterine fibroids.

ASTAXANTHIN FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH

At the onset of menopause, the female body produces substantially less estrogen (an established antioxidant in the human body) and eventually stops producing it after menopause. At low concentrations, estrogen has pro-oxidant like effects, especially when its chemical structure contains a catechol. This leads to tremendous oxidative stress in various tissues due to the release of ROS. That leads to the development of a variety of symptoms and pathologies.

  • Cardiovascular Effects : Estrogen plays a physiologic role in the cardiovascular system by protecting against heart disease. It also has favorable effects on insulin, glucose, and lipoprotein levels in the serum. It is evident that the effects of declining estrogen and other substances during menopause can predispose women to cardiovascular disease.
  • Osteoporosis Effects : As estrogen declines, its impact on the protection of bone marrow & bone cells as well as its ability to reduce osteoclasts is lost. Menopause induced hormonal deficit has been linked to an increase in inflammatory cytokines. These cytokines stimulate osteoclast and osteoblast formation, leading to increased bone turnover and bone loss eventually. It is evident from the role of pro-inflammatory cytokines and estrogen in bone remodeling that oxidative stress is a major contributor to bone density loss in osteoporosis.

LONG-TERM HEALTH FROM INSIDE-OUT

To maintain good health and fight against aging, all women, especially those over 40, must combat oxidative stress and chronic inflammation. Astaxanthin is the strongest natural anti-oxidant and inflammatory substance on earth. It quenches damaging ‘free radicals’ in both the inner and the outer layers of cell membranes to protect both the nuclear DNA and intracellular material. Other antioxidants (e.g. Vitamin C) can turn pro-oxidant under pathologic conditions and actually harm your health. Astaxanthin as a pure anti-oxidant does not turn pro-oxidant! Astaxanthin is very beneficial to anti-aging.

  • Cardiovascular Health : Studies have shown that natural astaxanthin helps improve lipid profiles, promote better blood flow in capillaries and lower blood pressure in hypertensive individuals. Importantly, no adverse effects have been reported in these studies.
  • Bone Health : Osteoporosis is not inevitable. Human bones are “living” tissue of which 5-10% are renewed every year. Astaxanthin suppresses the enhancement of substances that cause bone loss (serum calcium, inorganic phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase, total cholesterol) and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase activity. It aids the recovery of bone mineral density and bone microarchitecture, and inhibits osteoclast formation without any cytotoxic effects on bone marrow-derived macrophages. Chemical based bisphosphonates make your bones harder and denser, but they also become dry, brittle and therefore more prone to fracture. Natural antioxidants are a much saver and healthier remedy.
  • Anti-aging : Numerous studies have shown that the superb anti-oxidant and inflammatory properties of natural astaxanthin are highly beneficial to the maintenance & enhancement of our muscle performance & endurance, immune system, eyes and brain. (Read more...)

RADIANT SKIN FROM INSIDE-OUT

Skin problems such as wrinkles and rough micro-texture are symptoms of your body’s inability to combat oxidative stress. The damage affects all layers of the skin, from the surface to the delicate deep layers where new skin is formed. Applying cream and cosmetics may temporarily conceal the problems, but their effect is superficial.

Astaxanthin is a powerful natural dietary supplement that addresses the root cause of aging. Its unique molecular structure allows it to reside in the cell membrane to protect the cells on the inside and the outside.

  • stratum corneum : This outermost skin layer consists of corneocytes which absorb and retain moisture. Pollution can disrupt its functioning. Astaxanthin fights dryness and roughness of this skin layer.
  • epidermis : It protects the skin and provides resilience. UV disrupts epidermis and causes oxidation & inflammation, resulting redness & dark pigmentation. Astaxanthin quenches over production and oxidation of melanin (natural pigments in human skin).
  • dermis : The dense capillary network of the dermis provides energy and nutrition to the upper layers of the skin and supports healing. Astaxanthin fights lines and wrinkles, and boosts fibroblast and collagen integrity against UV-induced damage.
  • hypodermis : This is the innermost and thickest layer of the skin. Free radicals cause deterioration of capillary integrity of hypodermis and a decline in nutrients and oxygen supply to dermis. Astaxanthin combats free radicals and improves the supply of nutrients to skin tissues.
